Nervous System Regulation & Somatic Connection
CALM CONNECTION COHERENCE
A return to calm.
A reconnection with the body.
A coherent grounded state - where stress no longer leads.

When the body is under constant stress, you may notice:
-
A body that feels tense, restless, heavy or unable to settle.
-
Heightened reactivity, emotional fatigue, or feeling overwhelmed.
-
Mental fog, racing thoughts or difficulty switching off.
These experiences are shaped by the Autonomic Nervous System - the part of the body that responds to stress automatically, often without conscious awareness.
Calis gently supports the body in returning to regulation - where stress no longer leads, and the system can settle.
The Three Pillars of Calis
Calm.
Calm is not something the mind convinces the body into.
It is something the body arrives at when pressure eases.
When stress has been present for a long time, the nervous system stays on alert. Muscles remain braced. Breath becomes shallow. Rest stops feeling restorative. Calm in this state becomes unfamiliar.
In the Calis philosophy, calm is a shift out of constant holding. It is felt as the body softening, rather than bracing. As breath settling without effort. As urgency easing on its own.
Calm is the body no longer needing to stand on guard.
Calm may feel like:
-
taking a deep breath without trying
-
your shoulders dropping
-
a quieter mind
-
a sense of physical and mental ease
Connection.
Stress interrupts awareness and connection between the mind and the body.
In the Calis philosophy, connection is the process of bringing awareness back to the present state and back to the body. It is noticing when the mind is living in the past or the future. It is noticing your bodily sensations, rather than pushing past it.
Connection is listening to your body alongside your mind and staying in the present moment.
Connection may feel like:
-
noticing where you are holding tension in your body
-
being in the present moment
-
reconnecting with yourself
-
a greater sense of grounding
Coherence.
Coherence is what emerges when calm and connection are present.
In coherence, the mind and body are aligned, reactions are proportionate, emotions feel steady, and responses come from clarity rather than urgency.
Coherence is not perfection or a constant state of balance. It's our system to regulate with ease after moments of stress, disruption or demand.
Coherence may feel like:
-
feeling more settled
-
thinking more clearly
-
feeling emotionally steadier
-
a sense that things are flowing more easily
